Teacher/Parent Communication
"Education is a SHARED responsibility"
A daily communication tool that we use is our agendas. Students will write homework and behavior details in the agenda on a daily basis. It is important for you to look over your child's agenda and initial it each night. I will also write as needed notes in the agenda and you can do the same.
Weekly Newsletters:
Newsletters will be included in Friday Folders every week. This will include the spelling list for the week, important information about each class, and upcoming dates for the students and parents.
Friday Folders:
Your child will come home each week with a Friday Folder with graded papers or work, interims or report cards, and communication from the teachers, school, district, and PTO. It is important for you to sign the parent acknowledge sheet each week and return the folder to school with your child on Monday.
Bloomz (Parent/Teacher Communication App):
Parents can download the app, Bloomz on their phone as a way to communicate directly with teachers. Teachers will also post important reminders and updates on information to parents in the app.
Conferences/Sign-Up Genius:
We use Sign-up Genius to schedule ALL parent-teacher conferences. This can be done from your phone. Anytime we have a scheduling form it is under Mrs. Drees' following email:
You can simply go to and search for her email and any schedule that is current will come up.
Email is a great way to contact us or for us to contact you. Please make sure your email address is up to date on Final Forms. I can usually respond the fastest through email, but please allow up to 24 hours for a response.
Report Cards/Interims:
Interims and report cards are scheduled progress reports by the district and come home with the students in Friday Folders. Interims come out halfway through each quarter and report cards come home one week after the quarter ends. Please make sure to sign and return these to the school.
Each parent and student has access to ProgressBook, where you can check your child's grades in all subjects as they are updated throughout each quarter. I try to keep all my grades updated by entering assignments weekly. Please ask your child about their grades. If a student is missing work, it is marked in ProgressBook. Comments are often made next to assignments for parents and students to read. If you do not have access to your child's grades on ProgressBook please contact our guidance counselor, Mrs. D'Orazio.
