Life in Fifth grade is sweet!

Hello! Thank you for visiting my website. This is my first year at Spaulding Elementary and I am excited to be a Warrior! I am from Morrow, Ohio and attended Little Miami High School. I graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies of Human Learning and Development with a focus in Biology. I teach Science/Social Studies on a team with Ms. Docter (Math), Ms. Denney (ELA), and Mrs. Strauss (Intervention Specialist).

When I am not busy in the classroom, I enjoy coaching and playing volleyball. I played volleyball in college and have coached volleyball for 6 years. I love to ride bikes and sail. I also enjoy spending time with my dogs and my pet hedgehog!

I am really looking forward to this year! I am so pumped to be teaching my favorite subjects. My goal is to make learning fun, but also challenge the brain! I can't wait to see how much we grow this year!

Ecosystems Unit and Field Trip

These past few weeks have flown by! We have been studying ecosystems. The big topics we have covered are photosynthesis, types of consumers, food chains, and food webs. We will continue to build on these topics! In Social Studies, we finished Latitude and Longitude and are starting the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations. Students have been having a weekly state quiz on Friday. We do study the states some in class on Thursday. However, students are expected to study on their own.
We do have a field trip planned in October. We will be going to Rowe Woods. Ms. Docter's homeroom will be going October 12th. Ms. Denney's homeroom will be going October 13th. Ms. Gephart's homeroom will be going October 17th.
